Professor Sir Cary Cooper

As the CIPD’s President since 2015, Professor Sir Cary Cooper is a leading figure in the HR world. A LinkedIn recommendation for Sir Cooper notes: ‘On the one hand Cary knows his stuff and is very thorough, on the other he is one of the most dependable, pleasant and motivating scientists I have worked with.’

Sir Cooper is a Distinguished Professor of Organisational Psychology and Health at Lancaster University Management School, and a 50th Anniversary Professor of Organisational Psychology and Health at Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. He’s regularly quoted in HR publications and guest authors articles on wellbeing and issues surrounding CIPD’s mantra of ‘championing better work and working lives’. Perry Timms

I had the pleasure of working with Perry when I was at the CIPD. His energy and innovative approach were clear from the get-go. On LinkedIn, Perry states: ‘My mission is to connect people and bring about better business for a better world.’

He wears many hats in working towards this goal, including Founder and Chief Energy Officer for People and Transformational HR Ltd, Visiting Fellow for Cranfield School of Management, Associate at The Work Foundation, and Learning and Development Advisory Group Member for the CIPD.

Perry is a Chartered Member of the CIPD, and is regularly quoted in CIPD’s highly respected publication: People Management. Ann is also well known in the HR world as a presenter. Her speaking opportunities include the recent CIPD Annual Conference and Exhibition: a panel discussion on ‘Putting the people profession at the heart of Good Work’, and a talk on ‘The courage of speaking up – increasing your impact, profile and influence’. I worked with Ann when I was a conference producer for the CIPD events team, and I’ve enjoyed following her career. Definitely an HR influencer to follow!
