In this success story, we sat down for a chat with Eliana Pavel, H.I.E.C’s HR and Office Manager, to discover how Cezanne has helped the business seamlessly manage recruitment, performance and employee data all in one system.

Hi Eliana! Tell us a little more about yourself and your role with H.I.E.C

I joined H.I.E.C about two years ago as an Executive Assistant for the Global Managing Partner and the Global HR director at the time. At that point, it was mostly an admin role looking after payroll here in the UK; but I developed a real interest in HR and our Global Director was happy to guide me in becoming an HR professional. I’m now the company’s HR Manager for both the UK and global operations of the company.

What do you spend most of your time doing day-to-day?

At the moment, it’s definitely the more admin based things. I’m also helping the Operational Partners in terms of legislation and implementing HR systems as I’ve gained quite a bit of knowledge thanks to my recent CIPD qualification. Day-to-day, I would say just dealing with general HR inquiries, drafting contracts and drafting policies take up most of my time.

It sounds like you have quite a large remit – what are your key challenges?

I do, my role is very varied. My main challenges come from how to prioritise things. I’m always asking myself: What needs immediate assistance? What’s urgent? What’s going to make the biggest impact? And then it’s just juggling with all of the day-to-day duties and workforce requests.

Another key challenge is recruitment, an area H.I.E.C specialises in. We’re quite strict with our hiring criteria and we know what kind of person ‘fits in’ and which one doesn’t. So, when we have a role open, the process selection for new hires can take a lot of time.

You have a few modules with Cezanne. Which one/s do you think have the biggest impact on your day-to-day duties?

The Recruitment software module is really helpful as it enables us to put our job postings on every single recruitment jobs board, so that makes things a lot easier for us.

The Onboarding module has also had a really positive effect on our processes, too. It makes it much easier for us when we’re going through our on and offboarding procedures. It ensures everything is done step-by-step and that nothing is ever missed.

Let’s say we forget to add something (such as a specific employee document for example) to an employee record, it’ll prompt me to update it – so it doesn’t get missed. And, I really like the fact in the employment section I can attach any kind of document, like PDFs, Word docs and even emails. It’s a great little feature because we then have everything on file in the one place and you can find all employee information easily. We no longer have a million different files all over the place!

Also, the checklists are super helpful for both new starters and leavers – I really like those! It’s super-easy to amend them depending on if you’re doing one for a leaver or a joiner, and you can send them directly to people to complete and see their progress in the system.

How has the Cezanne Performance module helped with your performance management processes?

One aspect it’s really been helpful has been in supporting our appraisal processes. It took a bit of time to setup the right questions for the right people, and we also have different questions for different profiles and different sectors as well – it was about a full day’s work to do! But now it’s all been setup in Cezanne, we’re seeing the benefits.

Now, managing performance appraisals is all very simple and the Cezanne system makes tracking progress easy – most things are only a click or two away! It’s saved me a great deal of time. I can track what people are doing, what stage they’re at… I can also check if appraisals are with peers for review, or if I need to call them to push them forward. Tracking progress is really easy and means we don’t miss key deadlines.

And finally, how have you found the service from the Cezanne Customer Success team?

I work very well with them, I like them… especially Emma! [a member of Cezanne’s Customer Success Team] She’s been very, very patient and I really appreciate her professionalism, her quick answers and navigating through everything in such a calm manner. So for me, it’s a 10 out of 10!
