John Hixon, Cezanne HR’s Director of Research and Development explains: “One of the ways the system reduces the burden on HR is by calculating holiday entitlements based on working time patterns, local public holidays and company policies. For example, HR can set up different carry over allowances or length of service awards for different parts of the business, and the system does the maths for them.”

The new release extends this capability, allowing HR teams to set rules for the maximum holiday duration as well as the number of employees in an organisation unit that can book leave at the same time. As well as helping businesses ensure they have appropriate cover at any time, the new feature has advantages for managers too.

“For busy line managers, it can be hard to say no to a holiday request once it’s been submitted”, says John Hixon. “The new options mean that the system automatically reflects the company’s policy, so expectations are set from the very start. The rules can be overridden by HR, so individual circumstances can always be taken into consideration.”
